ToI vs The Hindu. The Ad War. How It Started. #Newspaper #AdvertisementWar
So ToI released a reply in Feb sometime to The Hindu, and it’s pretty disappointing.

Almost all of us have seen the little ad bitch fight Times Of India and The Hindu seem to have ended up in.
And boy, are they entertaining or what.
It all started by this ad/video by Times Of India, where it shows in the end that person is sleeping with a newspaper because of ‘sleepy news’ or whatever, and that bit of newspaper is the The Hindu. The target was Chennai, clearly from the video, this is also because ToI, which just came in to Chennai a few years back has been facing a good competition from The Hindu, which has been the favorite newspaper of the Chennai-ites, since..like forever.
The Hindu was pinched in the comfortable recliner it has been in, and then finally decided to react.
And oh boy, did they react. Once they started with the advertisements, they wouldn’t stop.
I am not sure if The Hindu was still under editor – in – chief, N. Ram, they would have reacted this way, cause he is a chilled out old nice guy. But we don’t mind this either.

So here are the epic ads, which damaged ToI all over India, when ToI had just dented the Chennai target, and marketed with the slogan
‘Stay Ahead Of The Times’
